Page 1

Panel 1:

Open in feudal Japan, near the end of the Shogunate. A peaceful village surrounded by hills

and valleys, children playing, farmers farming, peaceful and quiet.

Narrative:There were many places in [name] that told of peace and harmony between the

clans. There was much to be desired amongst the quiet cherry trees and clear brooks that

surrounded my village.

Panel 2:

Focus now on a woman and a child about 5 years old, the child running with a stick playing

samurai, whipping it around as the mother looked on fondly. She is carrying a basket, and

obviously showing her pregnancy. Clothes should be of the period.


Narrative: It was unknown to us, that there was a deeper darkness that stirred within our

village, a depth so black with evil that it would render our world asunder in a single

blow.

Panel 3:

Riders approach through the valley, horsemen riding hard. All Samurai dressed for battle,

riding haphazardly into the village. 4 men carrying different weapons, spears, etc.

Panel 4:

[Closeup of The mothers back] as the reader tracks the line of sight toward the oncoming

warriors, still a slight ways off, her child is in the path of the riders.

Narrative:We never stood a chance.

Panel 5:

The Mother's eyes are now wide with panic.
